Member cost-sharing will be waived, including copays, coinsurance, and deductibles, for COVID-19 diagnostic testing(Virus /antigen)through the national public health emergency period(currently set at 1/10/2023). Tests must be ordered by a physician or appropriately licensed health care professional for purposes of diagnosis or treatment of an individual member. UnitedHealthcare also waiving cost sharing for COVID-19 testing related visits during this same period. This coverage applies to in-network and out-of-network tests and physician visits.
This builds on the company’s previously announced efforts to waive cost-sharing for COVID-19 testing and testing-related visits, and the expansion of other member services.
COVID-19 Diagnostic Testing
Cost-sharing will be waived for medically necessary diagnostic testing (ordered by a licensed physician or other health care professional) through the national public health emergency period, currently scheduled to end January 10, 2023.
COVID-19 Antibody Testing
Cost-sharing will be waived for FDA-authorized antibody testing (ordered by a licensed physician or other health care professional) through the national public health emergency period, currently scheduled to end January 10, 2023.
COVID-19 Home Testing
Beginning January 15, 2022, UnitedHealthcare (UHCSR) will cover health plan members’ FDA authorized or approved over-the-counter (OTC) at-home COVID-19 diagnostic tests without a doctor’s prescription. COVID-19 Testing-Related Visits
Cost-sharing will be waived for visits to a health care provider’s office, urgent care center, emergency department, or through telehealth through the national public health emergency period, currently scheduled to end January 10, 2023.
If treatment rendered at an in-network provider and occurs under a COVID-19 admission or diagnosis code, the cost will be covered based on the Policy. This includes office, urgent care, and emergency department visits, observation stays, inpatient hospital episodes, acute inpatient rehab, long-term acute care, and skilled nursing facilities.
TelehealthAll policies that have access to HealthiestYou telehealth will continue to provide virtual visits at no costs throughout the policy year. For other visits see below:
- For COVID-19 testing in-network telehealth visits, UnitedHealthcare will extend the cost share waiver through January 10, 2023.
- For COVID-19 testing out-of-network telehealth visits, UnitedHealthcare is waiving cost share through the national public health emergency period, currently set to end January 10, 2023.
- For COVID treatment and non-COVID 19 telehealth visits, both in and out-of-network, policy benefits would apply with cost share.
