1. How to purchase insurance?
- To purchase insurance, please visit www.smcovered.com and Get a Quote:
- Enter your Education Institution, Visa Status, Date of Birth, and other personal information.
- Choose a plan
- Fill in your profile, make sure your email address, name, mailing address, phone number are correct
- Enter your payment information
- Check email for confirmation

Note:
- You can download the Confirmation Letter and Certificate from the Document Center in your Student Medicover account
- Generally, once the payment is completed, you are able to log in UnitedHealthcare Student Resources website to register your Healthsafe ID, then you can log into your UHCSR account and download your insurance ID card.

2. For OPT Students
If you are an OPT Status Student, you can:
- Visit website www.smcovered.com
- Enter your Education Institution, Visa Status - F1 OPT Student, Date of Birth, and other personal information.
- Choose a plan
- Fill in your profile, make sure your email address, name, mailing address, phone number are correct
- Enter your payment information
- Finish

3. Adding dependents
Eligible applicants with J1, F1, OPT visa could also insure their dependents. Dependents could be enrolled by adding coverage (Spouse/ Child) when a policyholder buy the insurance. The specific price can be obtained by clicking get a quote and then clicking coverage for student & dependent on the website. Dependent Eligibility expires concurrently with that of the Insured student.
Student Medicover 2024 - 2025 Plans introduction
We have 6 different plans: Supreme, Elite, Prime100, Prime 500, GC Basic, and Basic. Each plan varies in deductibles, coinsurance and out-of-pocket maximum etc. GC Basic, Prime500, Prime 100, Elite and Supreme plan offer excellent reimbursements plans including preventive care services, but the deductible for the Prime 500 plan is generally a little higher compared to GC Basic, Prime100, Elite, and Supreme plan. 4. Eligibility (Green Card Holders, Domestic Students)
Unfortunately, our health insurance policies via UnitedHealthcare are exclusively for international students (F-1 full time, J-1 & OPT).
5. Coverage for services performed outside of the US
Yes, the medical claim will be subject to policy provisions and limitations. Any policy with an exclusion for services in Insured's home country.
