1. How to purchase insurance?

  1. To purchase insurance, please visit www.smcovered.com and Get a quote:
  2. Enter your email address, date of birth, University name, and other personal information.
  3. Choose plan
  4. Fill in your profile, make sure your email address, name, mailing address, phone number is correct
  5. Enter your payment information
  6. Check email for confirmation

    Note:

  • Confirmation Letter will be sent to your Email address
  • Generally, once the payment is completed, you are able to log in UnitedHealthcare Student Resources https://www.uhcsr.com/ website to create account, then you can download your insurance ID card.

2. For OPT Students

If you are a OPT Status Student, you can:

  1. Visit website www.smcovered.com
  2. Enter your Email address, Date of Birth, University name, and other personal information, then select "Optional Practical Training" in student category
  3. Choose a plan
  4. Fill in your profile, make sure your email address, name, mailing address, phone number is correct
  5. Enter your payment information
  6. Finish

3. Adding dependents

Eligible applicants with J1, F1, OPT visa could also insure their dependents. Dependents could be enrolled by adding coverage (Spouse/ Child) when a policyholder buy the insurance. The specific price can be obtained by clicking get a quote and then clicking coverage for student & dependent on the website. Dependent Eligibility expires concurrently with that of the Insured student.


SM 2023 - 2024 Plans introduction

We have 6 different plans: Supreme, Elite, Prime100, Prime 500, GC Basic, and Basic.  Each plan has different deductibles, coinsurance and out of pocket maximum etc. GC Basic, Prime500 Prime 100, Elite and Supreme plan are excellent reimbursements plans including preventive care services, but the deductible of Prime 500 plan is generally a little higher than GC Basic, Prime100, Elite and Supreme plan. 4. Eligibility (Green Card Holders, Domestic Students)

Unfortunately, our health insurance policies via UnitedHealthcare are exclusively for international students (F-1 full time, J-1 & OPT).

5. Coverage for services performed outside of the US

Yes, The medical claim will be subject to policy provisions and limitations. Any policy with an exclusion for services in Insured's home country.
