1. How to enroll?

  1. To purchase insurance, please visit the Student Medicover Official Website and navigate to the Enrollment section :
  2. Enter your school, visa status, and date of birth.
  3. Click “Find My Plan” to view all available plan options, then select the plan that best suits your needs. 
  4. Fill in your profile - please make sure your email address, name, mailing address, and phone number are correct
  5. Enter your payment information
  6. Check your email for confirmation


    Note:

  • You can download the Confirmation Letter and Certificate from the Document Center in your Student Medicover account
  • Generally, once the payment is completed, you are able to log in to the UnitedHealthcare Student Resources website to register your Healthsafe ID, then you can log into your UHCSR account and download your insurance ID card.

2. For OPT Students

If you are an OPT Status Student, you can:

  1. Visit our website www.smcovered.com
  2. Enter your Education Institution, Visa Status - F1 OPT Student, Date of Birth, and other personal information.
  3. Click “Find My Plan” to view all available plan options, then select the plan that best suits your needs.

  5. Fill in your profile - please make sure your email address, name, mailing address, and phone number are correct
  6. Enter your payment information
  7. Check your email for confirmation

3. Adding dependents

Eligible members may enroll their dependents, including a spouse or child, in the insurance plan. Dependents can be added to the policy when the student enrolls in coverage.

To view the applicable dependent premium, click “Find My Plan” on the Student Medicover website and add dependents to the coverage.


A dependent’s coverage eligibility will expire concurrently with the insured student’s coverage.

4. Student Medicover 2026 - 2027 Plans Introduction

We offer 7 different plans: Supreme / Elite / Prime100 / Prime 500 / GC Plus / GC Basic / Basic for members in college and OPT. For high school members, we offer 2 plans: Medicover High School and GC High School. For students in California, we offer two exclusive plans upgraded from regular Supreme and Elite: Supreme California and Elite California, utilizing an upgraded UHC Select Plus PPO network.


Each plan varies in deductibles, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximum, etc. 

Our Prime 500 / Prime 100 / Elite / Supreme policies offer comprehensive coverage plans, including 100 % coverage for preventive care services.

5. Eligibility (green card holders / U.S. citizens)

Unfortunately, our health insurance policies are exclusively for international students.


5. Coverage for services received outside of the US

The plan will cover services incurred outside the United States and its possessions when traveling for academic study abroad programs, business, pleasure, or to or from the Insured’s home country. The claims will be subject to policy provisions and limitations at the out-of-network benefit level.
