- To purchase insurance, please visit www.smcovered.com and navigate to the Enrollment section :
- Enter your school, visa status, date of birth, and other personal information.
- Choose a plan
- Fill in your profile - please make sure your email address, name, mailing address, and phone number are correct
- Enter your payment information
- Check your email for confirmation
Note:
- You can download the Confirmation Letter and Certificate from the Document Center in your Student Medicover account
- Generally, once the payment is completed, you are able to log in UnitedHealthcare Student Resourceswebsite to register your Healthsafe ID, then you can log into your UHCSR account and download your insurance ID card.

2. For OPT Students
If you are an OPT Status Student, you can:
- Visit our website www.smcovered.com
- Enter your Education Institution, Visa Status - F1 OPT Student, Date of Birth, and other personal information.
- Choose a plan
- Fill in your profile - please make sure your email address, name, mailing address, and phone number are correct
- Enter your payment information
- Check your email for confirmation
3. Adding dependents
Eligible members may insure their dependents (spouse/child). Dependents could be enrolled by adding coverage when a policyholder enrolls in the insurance. The specific price can be obtained by clicking get a quote and then clicking coverage for student & dependent on the website. The dependent's eligibility expires concurrently with that of the Insured student.
4. Student Medicover 2025 - 2026 Plans Introduction
We offer 7 different plans: Supreme / Elite / Prime100 / Prime 500 / GC Plus / GC Basic / Basic for members in college and OPT. For high school members, we offer 2 plans: Medicover High School and GC High School.
Each plan varies in deductibles, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximum, etc.
Our Prime 500 / Prime 100 / Elite / Supreme policies offer comprehensive coverage plans, including 100 % coverage for preventive care services.

5. Eligibility (green card holders / U.S. citizens)
Unfortunately, our health insurance policies are exclusively for international students.
5. Coverage for services received outside of the US
The plan will cover services incurred outside the United States and its possessions when traveling for academic study abroad programs, business, pleasure, or to or from the Insured’s home country. The claims will be subject to policy provisions and limitations at the out-of-network benefit level.
